- Victor Lindelof not picked in matchday squad for Jose Mourinho’s side
- Defender struggled on his debut against Real Madrid in European Super Cup
- It is understood £30million signing is not injured and was simply omitted
Victor Lindelof has not even made the Manchester United bench for the season opener after joining from Benfica for £30million.
The central defender struggled in his competitive debut for Jose Mourinho’s side in their defeat by Real Madrid in the European Super Cup.
And it seems his new boss is unwilling to risk the new man against West Ham at Old Trafford.

It is understood that Lindelof’s omission is not due to any injury problems and he has simply been left out.

She wrote: ‘You guys are f****** poisoning my timeline. Get out of here.’
Mourinho will start with Phil Jones and Eric Bailly at centre-back as the Europa League champions prepare to welcome the Hammers to Old Trafford.
Yet again the Portuguese manager has shown his ruthless streak, unwilling to pander to a high transfer fee or give Lindelof time to adapt.
Time will tell if his decision is the right one, with Chris Smalling on the bench rather than the Swede.
